2025: A key year driving the energy ecosystem of the future

This 2025 has been a pivotal year for Enagás Emprende. We have strengthened our commitment to the energy transition through a comprehensive strategy: reinforcing strategic alliances and continuing direct investment in funds and disruptive technologies.

Our presence at leading forums and close collaboration with the ecosystem have reinforced our connection with the most innovative energy talent. For this reason, we are sharing this #recap of the main milestones that define a year of effort, conviction and tangible results towards decarbonisation.

Ecosystem growth

This year we have been present at some of the most relevant technology, entrepreneurship and innovation forums focused on the energy transition: Connecting H2 Europe, Science 4 Industry, 4YFN, European Hydrogen Giga-scale Generation & Storage Investment Summit 2025, Al Andalus Innovation Venture, TBB by Innoenergy, Startup Olé, South Summit Energy & Industry, among others, as well as energy-focused activities at BAT Acceleration Tower and the BIND 4.0 call. These events, among many others, enabled us to connect with disruptive projects and startups aligned with our strategy, strengthen our sector know-how by engaging with potential co-investors and partners, and anticipate the trends shaping the future of energy. We participated in multiple formats: speaking on panels, leading discussions alongside international leaders, presenting our open innovation approach in reverse pitches, acting as jury members, and actively engaging in matchmaking initiatives.

With a fast-growing entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem in the energy sector, we continue to promote open innovation as a driver of transformation, creating synergies and opportunities that accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable and competitive model.

Driving a collaborative energy transition

This year we had the opportunity to promote and host several key meetings within our open innovation activity.

In collaboration with the Community of Madrid and the madri+d Foundation, we hosted the Innodays Energy sessions at our Corporate University. These sessions, focused on boosting energy innovation and sustainable entrepreneurship from the heart of the cleantech ecosystem, allowed us to share experiences and perspectives with industry leaders. Several startups from our portfolio, such as Solatom, H2Greem, Trovant and Vira Gas, took part in the roundtables.

We also participated in two new TSO Innovation Club meetings and hosted the 5th in-person edition at our headquarters in Madrid. These gatherings brought together innovation leaders from the main European gas TSOs to share projects and explore new collaborations around decarbonisation, security of supply and renewable gases. In the Madrid edition, several of our startups presented their projects to the other TSOs, and we shared our corporate venture development model to continue accelerating the energy transition.

Within All4Zero, an association promoting industrial decarbonisation through collaboration between industrial corporations, startups and technology centres, we took part in the challenge of developing compatible materials and advanced measurement systems to optimise the transport, storage and quality control of captured CO₂.

To close the year on a high note, we brought together Madrid’s innovation ecosystem at Enagás Corporate University during the 10th edition of the Madrid Open Innovation Group (MOIG), highlighting the importance of collaboration to advance the energy transition. We were delighted to experience the entrepreneurial drive of the 50 startups that presented their projects in the fields of energy, transport and circular economy, aerospace, ICT digital transformation, security, health and agri-food.

Our portfolio companies and funds

Our portfolio expanded at the beginning of the year thanks to our investment, alongside other major players, in the Spanish startup H2SITE, to support the development of its patented membrane reactor technology that enables hydrogen separation from gas streams and easily transportable molecules such as ammonia or methanol.

We also celebrated the launch of Garai A, the new satellite of our portfolio company Satlantis, a specialist in advanced Earth observation technologies, which successfully completed its 7th mission (4th Satlantis satellite in orbit within its constellation) and is developing five additional satellites and more than 20 cameras for launch in 2026–27. These microsatellites with proprietary camera technology enable monitoring of critical infrastructure, potential greenhouse gas emissions and other advanced environmental analyses, which are key for sustainable natural resource management.

We also celebrated several milestones across our portfolio: Basquevolt, which secured over €18 million in funding to continue developing electrolytes for solid-state batteries; H2Greem, which continues to scale its technology and has delivered its first 250 kW electrolyser; and the launch of Scale Green Energy, a new company focused on accelerating the energy transition, born from our corporate entrepreneurship programme through the merger of two of our spin-offs (Scale Gas and E4Efficiency).

Although not a portfolio company, we successfully ran a venture client pilot with Titanium Tech. Titanium is an electrochemical technology startup that prevents marine biofouling using titanium plates, whose solution we tested at our Barcelona plant.

Regarding the funds in which we participate, Klima Energy Transition completed three new investments: Echandia (electric maritime transport), Dexter Energy (AI-based battery optimisation) and maxwell+spark (industrial logistics batteries), bringing its portfolio to a total of 11 companies.

Looking ahead to 2026: the future is built today

We close an extraordinary 2025 by laying the foundations for a 2026 in which open innovation will take shape through new corporate venture development investments and new technological solutions from startups addressing our challenges.
