Basquevolt secures nearly 10 million in funding

The company, backed by Enagás through its corporate venture Enagás Emprende and specializing in solid-state batteries, has received a financial injection of nearly 10 million euros with the support of Ekarpen, Stellum, and CDTI Innvierte.

Enagás, strongly committed to the energy transition and particularly to innovation in new energy storage solutions, celebrates the recent milestone achieved by Basquevolt, a company based in Álava, in which it holds a stake through its corporate venture Enagás Emprende. The company has secured nearly 10 million euros in funding with the support of Ekarpen, Stellum, and CDTI Innvierte, a key step forward in the development of solid-state batteries.

This financial boost will enable Basquevolt to strengthen its technological roadmap and accelerate its industrialization process in 2025. Located in the Miñano Technology Park (Vitoria), the company has the support of the Basque Government and participation from strategic entities such as Iberdrola, CDTI Innvierte, CIE Automotive, EIT InnoEnergy, and the CIC energiGUNE research center, in addition to Enagás through Enagás Emprende.

Basquevolt’s technology focuses on manufacturing cells for electric vehicles, stationary energy storage, hydrogen and gas hybridization, as well as advanced portable electronic devices. In this context, the company closed 2024 with agreements with two major automotive manufacturers (OEMs), solidifying its position in the industry and paving the way for its industrialization in 2025 in collaboration with several Basque companies.

The recent validation of its 20Ah cell prototypes by customers and external testing has confirmed that its technology is making strides in energy density, weight, and safety research. These results strengthen Basquevolt’s competitive advantage and its potential to transform the battery sector in Europe.

As a strategic partner, Enagás supports Basquevolt’s vision of democratizing access to solid-state battery technology, promoting storage solutions that enhance industrial competitiveness and European technological independence. Public-private collaboration has been key in this development, and Enagás’ participation reaffirms its commitment to innovation and sustainability in the energy sector.
