Enagás brings together Madrid’s innovation ecosystem at the 10th edition of the Madrid Open Innovation Group

Enagás hosted the 10th edition of MOIG, a key event that strengthened collaboration between startups, corporations, universities, and public administrations to drive innovation, the energy transition, and technological development in the Community of Madrid.

On November 28, the Enagás Corporate University (UCE) became the venue for the tenth edition of the Madrid Open Innovation Group (MOIG), a strategic initiative of the Community of Madrid aimed at boosting collaboration in R&D&I between large corporations, universities, and public administrations. For Enagás—and particularly for Enagás Emprende—it was an honor to host this event, which reinforces our commitment to open innovation, the energy transition, and the connection between entrepreneurial talent, scientific-technological knowledge, and real industrial needs.

The day began with remarks by Mercedes Zarzalejo, Deputy Minister of Universities, Research and Science of the Community of Madrid, who highlighted the importance of strengthening alliances to accelerate regional innovation. She was followed by Fernando Impuesto, Enagás’ Director of Business Development, who offered a formal welcome and emphasized collaboration and corporate venture as key drivers of the energy transition.

During the event, Enagás presented its strategic vision in the fields of diversification, energy transition, and new businesses, underscoring the company’s commitment to embracing new ideas and initiatives that strengthen supply security and accelerate decarbonization. This edition of MOIG brought together fifty startups selected by the Community of Madrid to present their innovative solutions to corporations, grouped into four strategic sectors: Energy, Transport and Circular Economy; Aerospace; ICT, Digital Transformation and Security; and Health and Agri-food.

After an initial plenary session, corporations, institutions, and startups split into sector-specific rooms to carry out technical presentations, feedback sessions, and discussions aimed at activating potential pilots, partnerships, or new collaborative projects. Held twice a year, MOIG has become the Community of Madrid’s main mechanism to identify corporate needs, guide innovation support programs, and foster synergies between industry, academia, and public institutions.

The event concluded with contributions from Vicente Parras, Deputy Director General for Technological Innovation of the Community of Madrid, and Emilio Martínez, Head of Open Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Enagás, who emphasized the importance of promoting collaborative models that accelerate technological innovation and the energy transition in the region.

To close the day, attendees visited the Enagás Energy Venture Center—an innovation space designed to strengthen the startup ecosystem and support projects linked to the energy transition and open innovation, where several companies from the Enagás Emprende portfolio are located. The center is open to energy startups and aims to foster a collaborative environment that enables the development of new solutions and encourages connections between key sector stakeholders.

Events like MOIG are essential to continue shaping the technological future of our region. From Enagás Emprende, we thank all participants for their contribution and reaffirm our commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, and decarbonization through public-private collaboration.
