That is why Enagás Emprende maintains a continuous presence at the leading national and international forums, identifying the most promising entrepreneurs and startups while connecting with investors and corporations that share our strategic decarbonization goals. Below is an overview of our most significant activity over the past few months, during which we have contributed our industrial expertise and strengthened ties with some of the brightest innovators in the energy sector.
June was marked by a busy schedule of events. At the beginning of the month, Madrid hosted a new edition of South Summit 2026, the city’s flagship annual event where the most disruptive ideas from the global innovation ecosystem come together. Once again, we took part by making the most of the event’s matchmaking platform to hold one-to-one meetings and connect with startups and scaleups specializing in areas of strategic interest to Enagás.
Almost immediately afterwards, we actively participated in the third edition of the Enagás H2 Technical Day in Madrid, a well-established event promoted by Enagás to reflect on the key role of technology in enabling the deployment of green hydrogen across Europe. During the event, our Head of Open Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Emilio Martínez Gavira, moderated the panel discussion “From innovation to market: R&D projects and start-ups.” The session explored practical mechanisms to bridge cutting-edge scientific research with the real needs of the energy market, helping transform research efforts into robust and commercially viable hydrogen projects.
Beyond our borders, we once again confirmed that Europe’s energy transition is a global challenge that can only be addressed through collaboration during the latest TSO Innovation Club meeting, held this time in Essen, Germany. Hosted by OGE and Thyssengas, the forum brought together eleven European TSOs alongside leading startups and strategic partners such as the H2UB platform to coordinate industrial innovation and decarbonization strategies in areas of common interest to all participating TSOs. Over two intensive days, discussions focused on priority innovation topics such as adapting existing gas transport infrastructure to carry hydrogen and CO2, developing safe technical frameworks for new green molecules, and implementing Artificial Intelligence tools to build a far more digitalized, efficient, and resilient energy transportation network.
The value of industrial startups and our ability to scale innovative solutions was also evident within the Basque innovation ecosystem, one of the most dynamic in this field. We participated in the prioritization of use cases during the BIND Demo Day 2026, the landmark tenth edition of the platform promoted by the Basque Government and the SPRI Group, now firmly established as a benchmark for industrial open innovation. We also took part in B Acceleration Week, organized by the BAT (B Acceleration Tower) hub, of which Enagás is an active member.
To conclude this intensive series of events, we participated in Madrid in a new edition of CAPITAL LETTERS by HARMON, an outstanding forum bringing together corporate innovation leaders, venture capital fund managers, and startups from across Spain. Emilio Martínez Gavira, our Head of Open Innovation and Entrepreneurship, joined the panel “The Exit Challenge” alongside our intrapreneur Javier Galindo, co-founder of our internal startup Sercomgas. During the session, participants defended the idea that Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) should act as a true industrial catalyst rather than simply a financial instrument. We proudly presented the success story of SERCOMGAS, whose remarkable journey from an initial idea to becoming a national leader—and its subsequent successful exit—demonstrates how the technical support of a corporation can help mature strategic business models by combining the strengths of large corporations and startups to create sustainable, independent value in the market.
All this activity over the past few months demonstrates that the energy transition cannot be achieved in isolation, but through knowledge sharing, strategic partnerships, and paving the way for the technologies that will shape the future.
