The company is committed to innovation and entrepreneurship for the development of new businesses based on clean energy
Through Enagás Emprende, the company has participated as a global partner of Cleantech Camp, a program of entrepreneurship and open innovation aimed at startups, business projects or unincorporated companies within the clean energy sector. The startups participating in this program had to respond to the challenges proposed by the global partners.
In addition to Enagás, Naturgy, InnoEnergy (organizer), the Portuguese technological institute CEiiA and Barcelona City Council have also been partners, through Barcelona Activa. The company proposed to seek solutions in the following fields: sustainable mobility in CNG, renewable gas (biogas-biomethane), Power2Gas and renewable hydrogen generation and storage solutions, regasification, transport of natural gas and other renewable gases.
Last June, the announcement of the three winning companies and the awards ceremony took place in Barcelona. As a novelty in this edition of the program, each participant was also able to present a pilot test of their project. Several of them have been selected by the partners and will be co-financed by InnoEnergy, a European organization that promotes entrepreneurial and business innovation.
The project selected by Enagás was Tresoil, whose entrepreneur is of Australian origin. It has an innovative technology to process 23 different types of plastic materials and with a recovery capacity of 95% to 97% of the energy for generation of hydrogen, electricity and heat, practically with zero emissions. The pilot will consist of the realization of an economic and viability plan to eventually study the installation of a waste management plant in Spain, using its innovative technology.
Through its participation in this program, Enagás is committed to innovation and entrepreneurship to promote new sustainable businesses that contribute to the process of decarbonisation of the economy.
