In the investment round closed in May, Enagás Emprende expanded its stake in SOLATOM, adding new key partners such as WSC, GDES and ENION. The investment is also backed by CDTI’s Innvierte programme.
SOLATOM, the Valencian startup specialising in solar boilers, has closed a new round of investment with the aim of boosting its expansion and boosting sales of renewable steam in industrial processes.
Enagás Emprende, Enagás’ Corporate Venture Capital initiative, has decided to increase its stake in SOLATOM., a company in which it has been investing since 2020. This investment round, in addition to strengthening Enagás’ position, includes other strategic partners such as WSC, an infrastructure investment firm for the energy transition, GDES, a Valencian technology services group for industry, and the venture capital fund ENION, which specialises in energy transition and decarbonisation projects. The round is complemented by CDTI’s Innvierte programme, which accompanies ENION, GDES and Enagás as accredited investors in the programme.
David San Frutos, Director of Corporate Venture and Diversification at Enagás, underlines the importance of this investment: “Our Strategic Plan focuses on security of supply and decarbonisation. Supporting technologies such as SOLATOM, which we have been backing since 2020, is in line with these objectives and demonstrates the crucial role of innovation in our sector”.
SOLATOM, founded in 2016, has developed a patented solar boiler capable of reaching temperatures of up to 450ºC, used by multinationals such as Heineken to decarbonise their steam consumption.Heineken’s project in Quart de Poblet stands out for being the world’s largest Fresnel solar thermal power plant for industrial use, generating 10% of the steam consumed by the factory annually.
