Ingenia Energy Challenge advances to the final with 7 innovative proposals.

Ingenia Energy Challenge consolidates itself as a fundamental pillar of the Corporate Entrepreneurship and Open Innovation Program, Enagás Emprende, reaffirming the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainable development.

Ingenia Energy Challenge held its semifinals on February 26 and 27. This event stood out for the presentation of 13 projects, 5 of which were internally proposed by company professionals. After a difficult deliberation, 7 proposals have been chosen to advance to the grand final, including 3 initiatives driven by the internal talent of the organization. The projects selected to advance to the next and final phase of the Ingenia Energy Challenge are:

External Category

  • EnaMOF. Proposed by Leitat and three other technology centers (ITECAM, CARTIF, ITENE) for the development of MOF networks to detect and quantify fugitive methane and H2 emissions in gas distribution and transportation systems.
  • NetZeroIIOT. Proposed by the startup Aeinnova, using autonomous industrial sensors (IoT) without lithium batteries, maintenance-free, with long-range wireless and powered by residual heat or wind.
  • CSIC–Structural Evaluation of Pipelines for H2 Transport. Technology from CSIC for inspecting the integrity of H2 ducts and repurposed pipelines to enable their certification for H2 transport.
  • Silex. Reactor that captures CO2 in combustion engines, preventing saturation and allowing greater capture for use in CO2 capture, utilization, and transport projects, reducing the carbon footprint.

Internal Category

  • Archydra. Use of renewable energy from seawater and ambient air for the ecological and efficient production of H2 as the main product, and N2 and CO2 as complementary products, for the creation of new green fuels with the support of regasification plants.
  • AZIM Biogás. Online consulting and training app on requirements for inspecting and maintaining renewable gas installations.
  • H2Mell. Project for the selection of odorants and bio-odorants for H2.

During the semifinals, participants had the opportunity to present their projects in a dynamic elevator pitch format, with 4 minutes to present their ideas and another 4 minutes to answer questions. An expert jury, composed of Enagás directors and representatives from renowned institutions such as Repsol, CDTI, and Sercomgas (a previous Ingenia winner), evaluated the presentations. The event not only showcased the variety of existing solutions aimed at driving the energy transition and other key sector challenges but also highlighted the increase in projects led by women, marking a milestone in diversity and inclusion within the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The final of Ingenia Energy Challenge promises to be a significant event where the winning projects, aspiring to make a significant contribution to the global energy transition, will be chosen. With proposals focused on renewable gases, new transportation fuels, sustainability, energy efficiency, Industry 4.0, and digitalization, supporting these types of projects underscores Enagás’s commitment to open innovation and corporate entrepreneurship. The final date will be announced in the coming weeks. At the event, not only will the winning projects be decided, but various promising solutions capable of making a difference in the current and future energy landscape will also be showcased.
