International Day of Women and Girls in Science

At Enagás, we celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science in the best way: Inspiring STEM vocations

Every February 11th, we commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a key date to recognize the contributions of women in the scientific and technological fields and to promote equal opportunities in STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Throughout history, women have made fundamental contributions to science, innovation, and technological development. However, the gender gap in these fields persists: according to UNESCO, only 33% of researchers worldwide are women, and their representation in disciplines such as engineering and technology remains low.

Encouraging female presence in science, especially in the most innovative fields, is not just a matter of equity but also of progress. Diversity in work teams drives creativity, critical thinking, and the ability to solve problems from different perspectives. To achieve this, it is essential to have female role models who inspire new generations and break gender stereotypes in the scientific and technological fields.

“Ellas te lo cuentan”: Showcasing female talent at Enagás

At Enagás, we are committed to equal opportunities and diverse talent as drivers of innovation. That’s why we launched the initiative “Ellas te lo cuentan,” a project aimed at giving visibility to the women in our company who work in science and technology and at fostering STEM vocations among girls and young women.

Through a series of testimonial videos, female professionals at Enagás share their experiences, challenges, and achievements in fields such as engineering, digitalization, and energy sustainability. With this initiative, we aim to bring female talent closer to students and young girls, offering them role models who inspire them to explore the world of science and technology.

At Enagás, we remain committed to promoting female talent in the energy and scientific sectors. Innovation and sustainability will only be possible if they include the talent of everyone.

Enagás Emprende also supports female entrepreneurship, particularly in scientific fields, through several initiatives. In the latest edition of Ingenia Energy Challenge, one of the categories focused on female entrepreneurs, and we always take part in Women’s Entrepreneurship Day. In its 2024 edition, we highlighted Carmen Peña and Mayte Bolumar, two women awarded in the most recent Ingenia Energy Challenge, where 40% of participants were women. Both lead projects that address key challenges in the energy transition, demonstrating that female leadership is essential for innovation in this sector. You can learn more about them at this link.

We invite you to learn more about “Ellas te lo cuentan” on its website and to join the conversation this #11F.
