At Enagás Emprende, we commemorate World Entrepreneurship Day by supporting bold ideas that drive the energy transition and sustainability.

Every April 16th, World Entrepreneurship Day is celebrated globally—a day dedicated to recognizing and fostering the creativity, talent, and determination of those who dare to turn their ideas into reality. At Enagás Emprende, we enthusiastically join this celebration, highlighting the importance of entrepreneurship as a key driver of innovation, sustainability, and both economic and social progress.

But what does it really mean to be an entrepreneur? Entrepreneurship goes beyond founding a company or developing a product; it means having the vision, capability, and courage to identify opportunities and create a positive impact on our environment. According to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), nearly 20% of working-age adults worldwide are involved in entrepreneurial activities at various stages—showing the growing relevance of entrepreneurship around the world.

Since 2016, Enagás Emprende has been firmly committed to this vision. Our goal is simple and clear: to promote ideas that accelerate the energy transition and help build a more sustainable future for all. We do this through an open, collaborative, and agile model—providing mentoring, access to funding, specialized training, and strategic networks to startups and internal innovation teams.

The results of this commitment are visible and encouraging:

• More than 400 jobs created through entrepreneurship since the beginning of our activity.
• Over €90 million invested in innovative startups and spin-offs.
• Active involvement in 19 companies.
• More than 8 successful projects born within the company.
• An estimated savings of around 15,000 tons of CO₂—proving that entrepreneurship also means caring for our planet.

Our CEO, Arturo Gonzalo, often emphasizes that “innovation is key to fostering a technology-based industry around hydrogen in Spain. More than half of the technologies needed for the energy transition must be developed in this decade.” This vision continues to drive us to collaborate closely with entrepreneurial projects in strategic sectors such as energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, CO₂ capture and utilization, and renewable gases such as biomethane and the promising green hydrogen.

The strength of our entrepreneurial ecosystem has earned us international recognition. For the sixth consecutive year, Enagás has been included among the 100 “Corporate Startup Stars” recognized by Mind The Bridge and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), reaffirming our commitment to open innovation.

Today, more than ever, we want to celebrate those who take action and create opportunities through entrepreneurship. Among them are pioneering companies we work closely with, such as the funds Hy24 and Klima, and startups like Trovant, Satlantis, and Basquevolt. Each of them brings unique and disruptive solutions that are already generating tangible impact in their respective sectors.
